Company description
Toting Notes Music is a new company specializing in connecting students wishing to learn music (all kinds of instruments) with great teachers.
We like to focus on young energetic teachers who like to explain why each type of exercise or piece or study is good to practice and which skills it helps develop.
Our mission and values is to provide enjoyment and successful music education to students wishing to attain RCM level certifications or learn instruments just for their enjoyment. And to encourage students to quickly progress in the mastering of the new instruments (or continuing education after switching teachers).
Our goal is to host annual recitals once enough participants are interested in order to provide students with confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
Job description
Online teaching note: We are looking for both, online and in-person teachers. If you are able to teach online only, the same requirements apply for both- online lessons and in-person, the only difference is for online lessons it would help to have a decent home set up to showcase your instrument, and yourself, as well as an ability to annotate the student’s sheet music through screen sharing or other software.
Responsibilities include contact with the owner of Toting Notes as well as contact with families you will be teaching. Arriving to classes on time and finishing on time (to be able to get to the next class on time).
Providing engaging and informative music lessons to intrigue, inspire and entertain the students in order to motivate them to work hard and practice so they can achieve their goals and make good progress in their studies.
A car is a good asset to have as it will greatly diminish the time used for transportation throughout the day, but it is not a must, and your schedule will be created with time for transportation pre-allocated depending on your mode of transportation.
Level 9+ in RCM certifications is recommended, but not required, especially if you’re currently working on attaining said qualifications or other similar certifications (such as pursuing a degree/diploma in music through a university or college).
Work experience of teaching music for at least a year is recommended, but not required. The pay will be set according to work experience and certifications.
Due to all the above, the most important skills to have for this job are:
