About the job:
The Garage Supervisor will be responsible for planning and coordinating all garage related operation to effectively control the utilization of shop labour and material.
The ideal candidate will develop and monitor targets and standards ensuring optimum productivity and excellence levels. The role controls and monitors in-house and third-party garage performance, ensuring optimum vehicle servicing at minimum cost, minimum downtime and within company guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & competencies:
· The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in Garage Management;
· Ensure maximum productivity and utilization of repair facilities and equipment;
· Develop and implement maintenance schedules and time standards for equipment and maintain repair parts inventory;
· Possess a general understanding of technical/mechanical repairs.
· Interact with customers and vendors to ensure timely repairs and maintenance are carried out;
· Improve productivity of shop operations and standards of maintenance;
· Monitor and control monthly expenditures;
· Establish best discounts and quality with the supplier network to optimize cost of labour and materials;
· Review historic expenditures and forecasts to develop operating budget
· Track ongoing expenses, and take corrective action where needed to ensure expenditures are in line with company policy and budgetary constraints;
· Negotiate discounts and quality service levels with supplier network;
· Report ongoing budget status, investigate and explain budget variances;
· Ensure vehicle fleet is maintained to all Federal and Provincial safety standards and proper documentation is completed;
· Identify training and developmental needs;
· Evaluate staff performance to determine potential candidates for future advancement.
