What Is the Opportunity?
The Travelers Canada Internship Program provides qualified students with an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience, receive valuable on-the-job training and learn more about the property & casualty insurance industry.

Our claim team is a diverse group of professionals who support our business partners and brokers, working with them to achieve their business objectives and adding value for our clients.
What Will You Do?
As a member of the Property Claim team, this position is responsible to assist with handling of residential property claims. A wide variety of causes of loss may be handled including theft, disappearance, wind, hail, water, and fire, among others. Damaged property can include personal property, business personal property, buildings, and other miscellaneous tools, equipment, or other items. Duties may include:
Making and returning phone calls and emails within Best Practice guidelines.
Documenting claim files in accordance with claim property Best Practices.
Reviewing amounts on all invoices and all documentation supporting payments.
Maintaining diary follow up on all files when required to ensure prompt disposition.
Determining appropriate payment amounts based on estimates prepared by Claim Professionals and invoices submitted by customers.
Explaining payment amounts to all customers by email or letter.
Referring files above authority, with recommendations for resolution, to Unit Manager and follow up through closure.
Negotiating and conveying claim settlements within authority limits to insureds.
Meeting all quality standards and expectations per file standard guidelines.
Managing inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.
Providing excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, broker and all other internal and external customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
Students who are serious about entering the insurance industry is preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
Students completing their final or 3rd year is preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills.
What is a Must Have?
Must be pursuing post-secondary degree or diploma.
Legally eligible to work in the Canada.
