The Mission*
Trendi’s mission is to eliminate food waste at the source. Upwards of 30% of food is wasted on farms themselves as the food does not meet appearance standards, or cannot be shipped to a buyer in time. This not only leaves people hungry, but also wastes all the fossil fuels used in transporting and growing the produce in the first place.

To end this cycle of waste, Trendi has developed the world’s first mobile produce processor which can preserve food with 96% of its nutrients without using any artificial preservatives. This is done by removing water from the produce. This makes the produce shelf stable for up to 25 years. Additionally, it reduces its weight by 90%, thus dramatically lowering the transportation costs from the farms to consumers.

You will be our in house expert and operator of this amazing piece of equipment! Your responsibilities will be to use, maintain, clean, and suggest improvements on this new technology in the field.

A Day in the Life

• You know when to do things by-the-book and when to think outside the box! Keep the BioTrim running smoothly by operating according to the established processing protocols.
• Support our mission of sustainability by ensuring the BioTrim equipment is maintained in good working condition – this means that equipment is clean and any part requiring repair is promptly attended to!

• Maintain a detailed logbook of all repairs and ensure inventory of equipment and spare parts is well-documented.
• Use your expertise and people skills to coordinate the purchase and installation of any new equipment in the BioTrim.
• Leverage your collaborative spirit and mechanical expertise to assist the Food Safety Specialist in developing and implementing the Food Safety Program and updating the cleaning and sanitation program when required. (Make sure all cleaning chemicals, sanitizers and lubricants are CFIA approved!)
• You directly contribute to our mission by owning the BioTrim process from start to finish! Arrange reception of raw materials to be processed in the BioTrim and the shipping of the freeze-dried products.

What You Bring to the Table

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering and Processing, or a related field is an asset.
• 2+ years of experience in the food industry embracing your passion for food and technology.
• You’re a pro at adapting to new environments, working away from home, and enjoy leading a NOMADIC lifestyle.
• You bring a strong understanding of HACCP plans and have the knowledge and confidence to implement plans!
• Mechanical aptitude will strongly support your success as a BT80 Operator.

• You are able to lift 50+ lbs.
