Triovest Looking for Junior Property Accountant at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Join Triovest, one of the largest privately-owned Canadian commercial real estate companies, as a Junior Property Accountant at our downtown Toronto office. In this role, you will be responsible for entry-level to intermediate accounting activities for a small commercial real estate portfolio. You will work closely with the Manager, Accounting, and assist with maintaining/recording ledgers, preparing financial statements, and providing financial/accounting support to property owners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company standards.
• Process invoices, track accounts payable, and assist with rent collection and accounts receivable activities.
• Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and forecasts, working closely with property managers to ensure accurate projections.
• Reconcile bank statements for property accounts, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly.
• Analyze property expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend strategies for improving property financial performance.
• Maintain lease data, track lease renewals, and ensure accurate rent billing and tenant reconciliation.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including lease agreements, vendor contracts, and property-related documents.
• Provide support to senior property accountants and financial managers in various accounting and financial tasks as required.

QUALFICIATIONS & ATTRIBUTES

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in accounting or finance, preferably in commercial real estate is highly desirable.
• Pursuing a professional accounting or finance designation (CPA, CFA).
• Knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
• Experience in accounting software (e.g., Yardi) is an asset.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Extraordinary team player and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong relationship management with the desire to establish collaborative working relationships internally and externally.
• Highly motivated and results-driven with the capacity to get things done.
