You are an experienced Business Generation & Marketing professional looking for the next step into Leadership or are currently undertaking a similar role in a similar environment. The role will be based in our Toronto office and report to Chief Marketing Officer, North America
Job Description
The Director of Business Generation will be responsible for working with our senior leadership team across to drive growth through positioning, bidding, brand enhancement, pipeline generation and key account management.
This is a hands-on role – you will need to lead strategically, understand and articulate propositions, develop and manage a pipeline of brand promotion activities, manage complex bids and support our key account managers to create endearing relationships with our clients.
This role requires an ability to see the bigger picture along with a commitment to excellence and a determination to always deliver.
The role will be a key position within the Canada Business, responsible for driving growth and key strategic business initiatives, and leading work winning transformation across the region.
Responsibilities to include, but not be limited to, the following:
Understanding and translating our business strategy into a clear business generation (marketing, business development, client engagement, and communications) strategy to expand Turner & Townsend’s brand profile and market share.
Identifying key market trends, translating these into campaigns and ensuring they are effectively delivered.
Effectively leading and overseeing the proposal/bid process, both strategically and at the tactical level to support conversion and to drive performance within bid writer cohort.
Championing our Bid to Win pursuit strategy, approach and toolkit and its use across the business.
Oversight of our of Canada-wide marketing activities (including events/sponsorships) to ensure a strong industry profile within target markets and client sectors.
Managing the production of key marketing collateral working with sector and key account leaders.
Generating a drumbeat of news, media engagement and voice of the business to provide a consistent internal and external profile.
Ensure discipline and best practice around client positioning, conversion, including win themes, bid planning and management.
Facilitate opportunity pipeline quality, reporting and analysis; Contribute to regional-level Board reports, performance reviews and summaries, and provide ongoing reporting and tracking of business development and marketing performance as directed.
Act as guardian of the Turner & Townsend brand ensuring consistency across the region.
Complete marketing/BG inductions with all new staff, making them aware of regional strategy, tools, platforms, and resources.
Assist and collaborate with regional and global business generation and marketing teams, as needed.
For strategic opportunities, facilitate the development of the pursuit team and approach, support/manage bid teams and contribute to the written proposal, both content and presentation – setting a high standard and coaching teams where required.
Support our key account managers to develop and articulate new propositions for our clients.
Nurture highly collaborative internal client relationships with segment/service line professionals and SMEs to drive an integrated approach.
Overall responsibility and line management responsibility for a Business Development & Marketing team.
Interface and coordinate with the Regional Managing Director for Canada
Manage the annual marketing budget.

Education and Experience

Team management experience
Knowledge of the Canadian construction market (preferable but not essential)
Strong copywriting skills
Self-starter – must be able to operate on their own initiative, and prioritize effectively
Strong communicator – able to engage with confidence at all levels of the business
Works well with teams – both as a leader or team member
Able to work at pace, supporting a fast moving business with dynamic opportunities
Commitment to continuous improvement and delivery excellence

Excellent project management, organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to implement/enforce procedures and to influence at all levels.
Strong PC skills required. Expert in the use of Microsoft Office package, especially MSWord, Excel, and Outlook. Creative Suite proficiency desirable.
