Tyax Adventures Looking for Backcountry Camp Host at Gold Bridge, BC Full Time

Job Title: Camp Host Position Contract, full-time seasonal

Job Description: Prepare either staff camp or backcountry camps for arriving guests, host guests, including cooking meals and cleaning up, and clean and close camps after guest departure.

Job Purpose: To ensure guests are made welcome and kept safe and comfortable in our backcountry camps. To deliver consistently exceptional service and meals in our unique and historical, well equipped remote backcountry camps . To ensure the camp is kept secure, maintained, clean and well stocked at all times.

At staff camp as required by the business, ensuring staff are well fed, staff and guests’ lunches are prepared and the camp is kept clean and stocked.

Duties:

• Opening and preparing backcountry camps for guests, ensuring tents and the grounds are clean and ready for their arrival. Other duties can include turning on water, propane, and electricity, chopping and stocking firewood, lighting and tending to wood stoves, and cleaning and stocking the outhouse and shower stall
• Welcoming and orientating guests on arrival, answering any questions they have regarding their stay and providing them with snacks and refreshments
• Preparing and serving nutritious and healthy guest and staff meals – in accordance with Food Safe and

Tyax Adventures expected high standards

• Cleaning up after guests and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the camp. Duties can include washing up, wiping down surfaces, cleaning the fridge/freezer as necessary, sweeping cabin and tent floors etc.
• Ensuring that all food is handled and stored appropriately
• Assisting the Food and Beverage Coordinator by maintaining an accurate inventory of all food and supplies in camp. Completing routine food and supply orders via inReach and/or radio
• Ensuring camp waste is appropriately handled, and is maintained in a secure fashion
• Performing routine maintenance tasks as required
• Cleaning and closing camp after guests depart, and prior to leaving camp.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience cooking for groups of 10-20 in a remote camp setting
• Foodsafe level 1
• Basic first aid (an asset)
• Wilderness experience – comfortable working and travelling alone in the backcountry

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Salary: From $21.00 per hour
