University Canada West Looking for Assessment Analyst at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Full Time

The Assessment Analyst will lead the institutional assessment portfolio for the purpose of ongoing improvements in accordance with accreditation requirements in support of institutional effectiveness. In addition, the analyst will liaise with faculty, program staff and administration to develop and implement effective assessment metrics for student learning outcomes at University Canada West. The Analyst will be responsible for accurate analyses, reporting, and implementing review processes for regular institutional assessment.

Specific Responsibilities

The Analyst is responsible for three broad areas of activity: supporting faculty in course-level decisions about assessment methods, supporting program-level reporting of assessments (including ongoing and ad-hoc reporting for the purpose of the Cyclical Program Reviews), and acting as a subject matter expert on student outcomes assessment across the university.

• Course level assessments support
• Assist faculty with the selection and development of high-quality assessment materials and summative and formative assessments at the course level.
• Assist faculty in matching appropriate assessment framework or tools to milestones and competencies.

• Program-level assessments support
• Work with faculty to develop program-level learning outcomes to articulate what students should know, do, and value at the end of the program.
• Design and implement a comprehensive program of assessment in accordance with accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with the Director, Institutional Accountability, program staff and faculty to develop assessment plans.
• Develop statistical models to measure the impact of learning support services on student achievement of intended learning outcomes.
• Support compliance with the provincial academic quality assurance framework.

• Subject matter support
• Act as the first point of contact and primary authority on assessment-related inquiries from faculty, program staff, and administration.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on program assessment.
• Research and advise on appropriate assessment methods for different disciplines.
• Supply assessment criteria for curricular development.
• Develop materials and tools (curriculum maps and rubrics), design delivery, teach and train methods and strategies, and facilitate workshops, sessions, and events.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment framework that includes:
• Annual timelines of comprehensive formative and summative assessment.
• Assessment standards and guidelines.
• Provide training and leadership to guide best assessment practice
• Communicate assessment progress, needs, and changes to all stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in social sciences, psychology, education information science and relevant field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Experience with statistical analysis packages and database concepts is an asset
