Salary: $62,166- $77,688 per annum

As a key member of the financial services function, the Financial Analyst II performs a broad scope of professional accounting activities requiring experience, professional knowledge, and application of accounting principles and practices. The Financial Analyst II performs, relatively independently, a wide range of detailed and complex accounting and advisory functions requiring professional judgement pertaining to assigned area or accounts and ensures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees capital accounting in Research, with maintenance of the capital subledger
Provides any schedules to Corporate Finance relating to capital for various purposes
Responsible for cheque deposits and postings
Oversees accounting for building operations, payment approval and billing.
Responsible for budget and forecast
Prepares monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
Prepares financial statements for stakeholders to facilitate decision making process
Assists in year-end audit
Works closely and independently with management and support staff in RFS and other departments to account for and facilitate deposit postings, capital and building accounting
Assists management as required in ad-hoc/complex/specialized assignments
Performs cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required
Participates in SAP implementation project
QUALIFICATIONS:
University Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
Working towards completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA)
Five years (5) related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures
Ability to analyze and interpret large quantities of financial and statistical data;
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction
Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges
Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data
Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information
Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
Experience using SAP is an asset
