Position: Research Associate I (Patient Research Liaison)
Salary : $34.12 to $42.65 per hour commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy

The Patient Research Liaison (Research Associate I) will be responsible for safely building and fostering a positive research presence on designated clinical inpatient units; acting as liaison between research and clinical staff, around patient recruitment as well as research processes on the clinical units; conduct pre-screening, screening and consent procedures for research studies using the Centralized Recruitment process; acting as ongoing liaison between patients and research, monitoring their continued consent and understanding of the research process; responding effectively and appropriately to patients’ ongoing level of comfort in regard to their participation in research; tailoring the discussion and consent process to the patient’s impairments, communication, and cognitive abilities; acquiring detailed knowledge and understanding of privacy and confidentiality as it relates to research implementation; maintaining accurate and detailed hard and soft copy documentation of recruitment records; aggregating recruitment data into regular and ad-hoc customized reports for researchers, clinicians, and corporate leadership; assisting with preparation of talks, articles, reports, and other ad-hoc tasks related to Centralized Recruitment; attending relevant clinical team, research or lab meetings, working as part of inter-professional treatment and research teams; and operating with infallible standards of privacy, ethics, and integrity.
A Master’s Degree in sciences with 2 years related experience and/or a Bachelors’ degree with 5 years experience in a clinic research setting.
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills prior experience working and/or communicating with vulnerable patient populations and/or in a rehabilitation centre considered an asset.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of research methods and procedures, specifically the informed consent process
Strong understanding of research ethics and privacy law.
Affinity for networking and building personal relationships.
Sound moral judgement.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and timelines.
Understand the value of adhering to standard operating procedures and routine practices.
Proficient with Microsoft Office: Excel data organization, data types, filtering sorting and aggregating records, Word & Powerpoint.
