In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $69,627 to $116,043.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, IT Service Excellence, the Senior IT Partner is responsible for strategic planning of IT needs for a designated client College. The Senior IT Partner works with the College Dean, as well as other academic and administrative leaders within the college structure, to support the core mission of the college by assisting to determine its IT strategic direction.

In this position, the Senior IT Partner collaborates with other IT Partners, the IST Service Improvement Manager, and the IST Project Portfolio Manager to coordinate significant IT initiatives and to allocate the College-directed portion of the university IT budget.

Duties

• Serves as a member of the College leadership team and is the lead resource for College IT strategic planning.
• Establishes, leads, and/or participates in/presents at informal and formal advisory groups, steering committees, and governance groups to engage, communicate/seek approval for service delivery developments within the College.
• Identifies critical academic and administrative needs, and translates those into supporting IT initiatives.
• Provides senior professional level expertise and strategic counsel on IT planning, budgeting, forecasting, modeling, reporting, and analysis.
• Analyses complex situations to develop appropriate strategic approaches.
• Undertakes research, seeking support where necessary from staff in IT Centres of expertise and from other IT Partners, to provide data and analyses to area leadership.
• Identifies and responds to new and emerging risks, and communicates risk mitigation strategies.
• Partners with key stakeholders and staff to develop strategies appropriate to the area.
• Identifies key influencers and creates internal networks. Uses networks to shape objectives and build support for ideas, initiatives and directions.
• Fosters collaboration within the College and across the university. Shares information when appropriate. Identifies opportunities and develops strategies for collaboration.
• Identifies opportunities for progression, improvements, expansion, and/or reduction of IT services within the College to respond to changing needs.
• Sets annual objectives and measurable key results (OKRs) for College IT, monitors progress towards objectives, as delivered by the Centres of Expertise, and documents the degree of achievement of key results.
• Monitors service level agreements and progress toward key service delivery performance indicators (KPI’s) or metrics to drive understanding and improvements within College IT services.
• Ensures project risks are recognized and mitigated, and interim course corrections are effectively applied as and when needed, including redefining budget, scope, and timeline.
• Champions change and innovation within the College; anticipates barriers to the flow of new ideas; proactively addresses issues.
• Collaborates with College staff and faculty members to develop change strategies. Engages and supports College staff in adapting to change.
• Demonstrates resilience and positivity in an environment which may present resistance to innovation and change.
• Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior levels within the College, within IST, and with partners to ensure IT services are provided in a positive and constructive manner.
• Reinforces a positive work environment through promoting transparency and open dialogue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
• Professional designation in a related discipline
• 7-10 years of experience in IT systems and IT management. Previous post-secondary experience would be an asset.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment; demonstrated ability leading and managing a team through change considered an asset.
• Experience delivering presentations and previous participation in steering committees considered an asset.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills; collaborative mindset with all levels of the organization, individually and in groups.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to engage, motivate, coach and mentor team members to enable them to meet demanding deadlines.
• Strong awareness of appropriate usage for IT to achieve business and organizational objectives.
• Self-starter that consistently takes a proactive and strategic approach.
• Effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
