Vice-Provost, Academic Affairs
Responsibilities
Working as part of the executive team at the University of Ottawa, the Vice-Provost, Academic Affairs, will provide strategic direction and priority setting for all aspects of teaching, learning, and academic governance at the University. This includes ensuring the highest quality programs and courses, as well as providing inspiring pedagogical leadership for faculty and rich experiential learning opportunities for the student community. Enhancing equity, diversity and inclusion in the curriculum and in the classroom are also a key focus of the role.
The Vice-Provost, Academic Affairs oversees a number of initiatives, including program revitalization, pedagogical innovation and the role of technology in teaching and learning. The Vice-Provost, Academic Affairs, sits on several committees related to these issues and is responsible for the Quality Assurance Office, Teaching and Learning Support Service (TLSS) and the French Immersion Program.
Essential Qualifications
Candidates must have a strong understanding of current issues in academic curricula at the post-secondary level, as well as significant university teaching and research experience in which they will have demonstrated leadership and vision. They must also have excellent management and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong command of French and English, both spoken and written. The incumbent will be mandated to develop and implement the vision, strategies, and major axes guiding teaching and learning for an inclusive student learning experience. This position is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced academic to apply his or her leadership skills.
Term
The position is offered for a five-year term, which is renewable in accordance with University policies and procedures.
