The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic respirologist with clinical expertise in the management of tuberculosis. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Investigator. The expected start date of the position is January 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate will also have fellowship training in tuberculosis. Preferably, the successful candidate will also have a graduate degree relevant to their area of specialization. Academic excellence will be measured by research accomplishments, which will include peer-reviewed publications, research grants, presentations at significant conferences, awards, and accolades. In addition, the successful candidate should also be an effective teacher, as demonstrated by experience in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level and teaching awards.
The successful candidate will lead the Tuberculosis Program at St Michael’s Hospital, which encompasses a large outpatient specialty clinic and inpatient services, and participate in program-associated clinical research, quality improvement and education initiatives. This position will also support the large patient demands in general Respirology programs at St. Michael’s Hospital. The successful candidate will also participate in the relevant educational activities, including supervision of fellowship trainees at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Respirology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 11 full time respirologists and has a robust research program in diseases of the lung.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, clinical work and experience.
