Your Opportunity
Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Officer (HSO) provides health and safety services to the faculty, administrative staff, and students of the University of Toronto at Mississauga as part of the broader team within the Division of Vice-President, Research and Innovation. The HSO interacts with a wide range of people, such as faculty, staff, students, suppliers, other University compliance officers, vendors, contractors and researchers, to provide information and advice on safe work practices and compliance measures, such as but not limited to, biological, chemical, and radiation safety. Additional responsibilities include implementing and supporting various EHS programs (including training for staff and students) within established University policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations. The HSO also works collaboratively with other EHS and UTM staff to perform duties at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus in areas such as lab inspections, lab design review, lab commissioning and decommissioning, waste management, and risk identification/mitigation.

USW Pay Band 14 — $88,290 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $112,911. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
