Your Opportunity
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Human Resource Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing a range of HR advice and services to client departments, along with support to a team of HR Consultants at the University of Toronto Scarborough. The Senior Human Resources Advisor will ensure the delivery of a comprehensive and unified recruitment program for a wide range of administrative, managerial and technical positions at the UTSC. The incumbent ensures compliance with U of T recruitment policies and practices for both unionized and non-unionized staff for all UTSC recruitment.
In addition to recruitment, the incumbent will provide a wide range of human resource services to client departments which includes: job evaluation, salary administration, interpretation and application of human resource and payroll policies and practices, the interpretation and application of staff policies and collective agreements, training and recognition initiatives, organizational change, and performance management.
Responsibilities will also include advising a dedicated client group on employment-related laws and jurisprudence including the Human Rights Code, the Employment Standards Act, etc., analyzing, evaluating and classifying both unionized and non-unionized positions; providing recruitment advice and assistance to clients; providing general advice and guidance, in consultation with other HR staff in the department, on organizational change and restructuring; and participating in special projects and process re-engineering.
The incumbent will also be involved in outreach initiatives at UTSC working closely with the Assistant Director, HR Services. The incumbent will identify community partners and broaden candidate pools by maintaining relationships with internal and external partners to promote recruitment opportunities at UTSC, and will represent UTSC by participating at U of T job fairs, external local job fairs, and recruitment events with community partners.
Education
Essential Qualifications:
University degree or the acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of (or working towards) Certificate of Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
Experience
Minimum three years’ related HR experience, including experience with recruitment, job evaluation, labour relations, organizational change, attendance management, performance management and salary administration.
Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation.
