Skills
You are a proven educational innovator with the agility of a juggler and possess the organizational skills to keep multiple balls spinning in perfect (or near perfect) orbit simultaneously while maintaining an eye on the bigger lay of the land. You also bring the following skills to the mix:
Membership in the Ontario College of Teachers.
Master’s Degree, preferably in Education (completed or in progress).
PQP (completed or in progress).
10 years teaching experience with five or more years of demonstrated progressive academic leadership experience managing staff and overseeing teacher growth, preferably in a unionized environment.
Evidence of a deep commitment to the principles of Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and an understanding of their application to curricular practice.
Experience advising teachers.
Excellent working knowledge of best practices in education including culturally responsive curriculum, assessment and evaluation, reporting and grading, and professional learning.
Experience overseeing the Ministry of Education (EDU) inspection process.
Experience building complex timetables and strategic staffing.
Experience advising/mentoring students and teachers.
Knowledge of Advanced Placement.
Evidence of experience with Risk Management policies, procedures, and implementation.
Excellent knowledge of extended learning opportunities including academic competitions.
Superior computer skills, in MS Word and Excel, Google Platform and other digital tools used in an educational environment.
Here Is Some Of What You Will Do
Curriculum development and implementation (grades 7 to 12).
Develop and implement equitable assessment, evaluation and reporting.
Support and ensure effective, inclusive instructional practice.
Ensure compliance with EDU policies and manage the EDU inspection process.
Integrate AEDI-researched practice into the school’s curriculum and pedagogical practice.
Collaborate to provide effective professional learning for staff.
Collaborate with Department Coordinators and other academic leaders to ensure alignment with and implementation of strategic objectives.
Develop annual strategic PD plans for teachers (in collaboration of Department Coordinators).
Manage teacher timetables and staffing.
Oversee Advanced Placement and Extended Learning Programs.
Engage in academic partnerships (OISE MT Program, UT).
Manage Academic Recognition Events (grad and undergraduate awards).
