Temporary Full-time and Part-time Reggio- inspired Early Childhood Educators

We are searching for experienced, confident and creative Early Childhood Educators who would be interested in our preschool and toddler programs.

Facility

The Vancouver Child Study Centre (VCSC) is a well-established and well-regarded play-based preschool, inspired by and dedicated to the Reggio philosophy. Our unique offering for two-year-olds and their parents is filmed live and also based in the Reggio-inspired philosophy. We are strongly supported by our families and board.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Certificate

• Current First Aid and CPR Certification

• Criminal record check

• Reference check

• Knowledge and understanding of the Reggio Emilia/Emergent philsosophy.

• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of Reggio Emila/Emergent philosophy

• See children as capable and and complex early learners with ideas and feelings of their own

• Be able to work in a teaching team of 3 and share ideas and thoughts respectfully and objectively

• Computer literacy (Mac) and experience with Squarespace and Blogger are valuable assets

Key Responsibilities –Classroom and Operational

This position is one of a three member teaching team that collaborate closely to deliver an exceptional, enriching preschool experience.

• We strongly believe in the environment as the third teacher. This means you should be able to assess, maintain and constantly adapt the physical environment; changing materials, provocations and set-ups prepared weekly as part of the unfolding curriculum.

• We use observations to expand project work. Documentation is regularly used as a communication tool at our centre. You should feel confident with writing observations, reflecting on personal practice and engaging in passionate and respectful pedagogical dialogues within the team.

• All teachers share responsibility for daily classroom set-up,and clean-up.

• The team coordinates the purchasing of school supplies, including art and educational materials, library books and snack items.

• The team plans and attends events that foster and enrich the preschool community, such as the Fall welcome back event, annual open house and parent-teacher interviews.

• The team ensures the school’s website is kept up to date with current classroom photos.

• Vancouver – Oakridge area

Employment Terms (Multiple Contract Types)

• Full-time – Preschool (36 hours, Monday-Thursday)

• Part-time – Toddler Program (7hrs/week, Friday’s Only)

Position Start Date

• January 3 2023-June 22 2023 for Full-time Preschool position

• March 3 2023-June 23 2023 for Part-time Toddler Program

Hours of Work

• Preschool: Regular working hours are 7:30-4:30pm, Monday to Thursday (Friday’s Off). There are two separate classes that are each 3 hours long: 8:45am-11:45am and 12:30pm-3:30pm

• Time before and after class are used for classroom set up/prep, planning, documentation, administrative duties, etc.

School Board calendar (pro-rated for part-time)
