As an Critical Care Informatics Nurse with VCH you will:
Perform patient assessment and data collection as a key member of the Critical Care/Intensive Care team.
Utilize both nursing knowledge and expertise, and strong technical computer skills, to assess patient care levels and upload findings into database.
Support the development, successful implementation, ongoing support and maintenance of the designated clinical application(s).
Education & Experience
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two years’ recent, related critical care experience plus recent experience in the use of microcomputer hardware and software computer based patient care information systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the BCCNM.
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical utilization of clinical information systems.
Broad knowledge of clinical policies, procedures and standards of care.
Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative manner.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of outside agencies.
Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Access.
Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
Demonstrated ability to teach staff in an informal setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a self-directed manner.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
