Job Description
As the Financial Controller of this fast growing design, manufacturing and installation company, you will be responsible for managing and providing accurate information to senior management around analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparing financial reports.
WHAT YOU’LL DO IN A DAY:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- Accounts payable/receivable operations including credit checks for potential customers
- Cash flow management
- HST, WSIB & payroll returns
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage employee benefits and payroll
- Month and year-end journal entries
- Month, quarterly and year end financial reports
- Costing of products, inventory, projects
- Manage organization of purchase orders
- Financial analysis, reporting and forecasting
- Ensure key financial processes are documented accurately
- Liaise with auditors to ensure efficiency of year end audit
- Identify and maximize government programs available to VDF
- Prepare and complete the initial review of monthly internal financial statements, analyze variances, communicate findings and suggest improvements
- Responsible for the balance sheet accounts reconciliation on a monthly basis
- Ensure consistent adherence to accounting standards, principles, policies and procedures
- Various other projects and ad hoc analysis as required
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline
- CPA designation with 3+ years’ accounting experience in a similar role
- Ability to lead, take ownership and drive results
- Excellent communication and influencing skills as this role requires interacting and supporting a range of groups and teams
- Strong knowledge of GAAP requirements
- Skilled user in Microsoft Office especially Excel, Sharepoint, accounting software including QuickBooks, ERP software
- Costing experience
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and “do the work”
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, multi-task, complete tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. An ability to maintain a broad perspective and to foster and maintain effective relationships with staff at all levels
- Ability to provide superior customer service to internal and external customers
- Ability to remain calm and use sound judgement and fairness in conflict resolution High attention to detail and accuracy
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $85,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
