DOING WHAT IS FUN
- Industry-leading scientific equipment manufacturer seeks qualified engineer to develop PC-based applications software.
- Successful candidate will work within an engineering team, to create software that will provide User Interfaces, and will provide control and monitoring of Microtrac instruments, and will generate visual and printed reports. This capacity will involve maintenance, support, and improvements to existing Microtrac software applications, as well as participating with international Microtrac Software Teams to develop new applications.
- Additional responsibilities will include supporting the Production Team, by generating Microtrac-only utility apps, or by using programmable features of third-party software such as Microsoft Office. Such support can be in the form of software to operate test-equipment, a utility program to analyze Production test-data trends, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 yrs. experience generating instrument-control applications software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio development systems, to target .NET-based applications to Windows operating systems ( Windows 7 / 8 / 10, 32- or 64-bit). Use of C# and VB languages for the business-logic, use of WPF for UserInterface creation.
- Proficiency with interfacing software to PC hardware interfaces and drivers, such as USB ports, internal PCI-Bus, graphics cards, serial port, RS485, and other interfaces.
- Software development experience while working within software team, employing industry recognized coding standards, and using recognized software development methodologies.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Knowledge of Matlab mathematical computing software package is highly desirable. Knowledge of using Matlab software to compile Matlab code, to run under various target computing environments, is also desirable.
- Knowledge of embedded systems (CPUs/MCUs, running embedded firmware code), and creating robust communications between PC and such systems, using previously mentioned PC interfaces, is desirable.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, is desirable.
- Must have valid work permit for the US
