CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years’ of experience in a Shop Manager position for a Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Fleet
Journeyman SK Mechanic preferred Red Seal
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication skills verbal and written and ability to interact positively with others
Enjoys a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent people skills

RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute plans as directed by your manager and monitor preventive maintenance and repairs program
Assist on managing overall repair and maintenance for trucks, trailers and other Vertex vehicle and equipment
Responsible to prioritize work, job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and employee allocation for the day-to-day operations
Assist and adjust the workloads of technicians to match their skills and abilities. This includes supervise their daily activities to ensure efficient job performance and timely repairs
Review repair orders and inspect the quality of repairs done before release of vehicles and equipment.
Assist your manager to complete all applicable documentation and file according to commercial vehicle inspection regulations
Maintain and manage a daily record of repairs and services to vehicles and equipment
Manage requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts
Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies
Assist your manager in completing all paperwork including invoicing, safety reports, and maintenance schedules in a timely manor
Ensure all tools and equipment are safe to use and being operated in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
Ensure maintenance team have correct PPE and the right tools for the job
Assist your manager lead daily / weekly Toolbox meetings
Ensure all shop area, office and yard are clean, organized, and safe for all workers and visitors
Manage waste generated in the shop to ensure adherence to health and safety laws
Adhere to Health and Safety Management System, be familiar with and follow all applicable safe work practices, safe operating procedures, and safety specifications detailed in equipment manuals and manufacturer’s specifications
