Human Resources & Safety Administrator
This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the HR & Safety Compliance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of the occupational Health & Safety Program including training, reporting, planning, investigation and compliance with accepted safety standards and applicable laws. The HR & Safety Administrator will also assist the HR Coordinator with the day-to-day administration of VP’s Human Resources policies and procedures, as well as maintain compliance with all legislation at the Provincial and Federal levels related to HR and Health & Safety.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Safety:
Help to implement project safety and regulatory requirements, and any other safe work practices.
Coordinate safety events, communications, and trainings to help promote a ‘safety first’ culture.
Assist in the development and implementation of hazard identification tools.
Stay current with all new and existing regulations, guidelines, and standards relating to safety.
Evaluate the impact of such regulatory amendments on corporate processes and make recommendations to achieve compliance.
Review and proposes updates to safety policies and procedures.
Develop materials and train employees on important safety measures and practices (i.e., WHMIS, safe lifting, safe knife use).
Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis, making recommendations for future prevention.
Input and track workplace accident/incident information.
Conduct semi-annual workplace inspections.
Deliver occupational health and safety training to new hires.
Ensure timely submission of necessary WSIB reporting.
Monitor safety supply levels and order as necessary.
Work with employees and leaders to facilitate a safe and timely return to work process.
Monitor daily COVID screening questionnaires; ensure all employee responses are received and follow up with employees if required.
Human Resources:
Act as a bi-weekly payroll administration back-up
Assist with benefits and group savings enrolment
Aid in full cycle recruitment for all positions (preparing, sourcing, screening, selecting, hiring, and onboarding procedures)
Assist with the development and maintenance of training programs within the HR department
Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team.
Ensure company policies and procedures are maintained, up to date and are in accordance with all federal and provincial legislation.
Additional projects and duties as assigned by the HR & Safety Compliance Manager
Health & Safety
Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Conducts self with regard for safety of employees; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures
Report any health & safety violations or hazards to your Supervisor
Good manufacturing practices:
Follow and understand all relevant Standard Operating Procedures with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices
Skills and knowledge required:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources and/or Safety Compliance or similar
Certified Human Resources Professional or Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation considered an asset
Experience as a Joint Health & Safety Committee member
1-2 years’ experience in HR or Workplace Safety
Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Code
Ability to work well under pressure, individually, and as part of a team.
Excellent written/oral communication skills.
Strong problem-solving capabilities
Superior organization / time management.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm
