The Opportunity

VistaVu is looking for a dynamic individual who has a knack for numbers, is detailed oriented and analytical and can spot trends, issues, and opportunities in the numbers while at the same time effectively communicating the results of the analysis to the corporate and BU leadership teams.

As a key member of the finance team and a partner to the Business Units, reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for VistaVu’s budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis processes. The primary purpose of the role is to collaboratively work with the finance team and the Business Units to ensure the effective communication of key monthly and quarterly financial and operational insights to the leadership team.

You will facilitate and lead the annual budget process and perform regular forecasting and modelling of the financial results. Finally, you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s accounting policies and establishing a sound system of financial controls. Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work 2-3 days weekly in our Calgary downtown office.

What will you be doing?

• Lead the development of the planning and budgeting process including the development of a budget SOP’s and budget templates.
• Lead the annual budget process and work with the Business Unit Leaders and Shared Service Leaders to develop departmental budgets and plans including the preparation of the combined income statement and cash flow.
• Lead the quarterly/semi-annual forecasting process.
• Ensure compliance with budget and spending policies and propose improved policies and systems regarding spending guidelines and cost improvements.
• Prepare monthly departmental budget vs actual analysis and trends and work with budget owners to monitor performance against budget.
• Assist with the development of the corporate KPI’s and associated dashboard and maintain, report and communicate performance to the stakeholders.
• Perform Business Unit financial/operational analysis and review such analysis with BU leadership.
• Develop guidelines for capitalization of software development and other initiatives, monitor spending against capital projects and measure/report on project results.
• Maintain the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan including associated accounting and tax reporting matters.
• Maintain the company’s accounting policies and assess impact of new regulations on the financial position of the company.
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining a sound system of financial controls.
• Assist the company with analyzing its results and assist the Business Units in identifying trends, issues and gaps in order to drive and improve performance.
• Establish a sound system of financial controls including guidelines and controls around spending.

What experience do you need?

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Professional certification in CPA required.
• A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with time spend in the areas of budgeting, planning and management reporting.
• Experience in KPI’s/dashboards and financial/operational analysis.
• Experience with systems of financial control
• Good knowledge of accounting software SAP B1, BYD, S4 or other ERPs.
• Advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AI / BI systems.
• Sound business acumen and knowledge of business operations, operational metrics, and drivers, etc.
• Good reporting and data mining skills.
• Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-driven reports.
• Sound knowledge of Budgeting, planning, and forecasting process and best practices.
• Ability to identify drivers of performance, detect trends, perform SWOT analysis.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Well organized and able to handle multiple tasks quickly and accurately.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Excellent data presentation skills and ability to write clearly and concisely.
