The Team Lead – Student Services will be responsible for:
Managing and supporting the student population
Managing staff to ensure success of students in the educational program
Overseeing the Education department administration and operation to ensure students have an excellent learning experience
Specific Responsibilities:
The Team Lead – Student Services will at various times be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support the business objectives and purpose of the College.
1. Managing and supporting the student population through:
Achieving and maintaining budgeted retention rates and balance attrition rates.
Managing student attendance and assessment, reporting outcomes to the Campus Director.
Ensuring student files are accurately maintained as per regulatory and legal requirements.
Assisting Campus Director in implementing student success strategies based on student evaluation surveys, student academic performance and retention rates.
Developing and implementing student events such as orientation and graduation.
Responding to and resolving student concerns.
2. Managing instructors and staff to ensure success of students in the educational program through:
Completing performance reviews for all staff within the program.
Continually improving faculty orientation and training and development activities to promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Contributing to the strategic planning process, recommending short and long-term training plans/objectives.
3. Overseeing the SSC department administration and operation to ensure students have an excellent learning experience by:
Creating quarterly course schedules to optimize student-faculty targets/instructional expense targets, building schedules in accordance with faculty experience and accreditation standards, to maximize efficiencies while maintaining program outcome standards.
Ensuring all personnel are qualified to the level required by the College’s internal standards of educational quality and are in compliance with the requirements of relevant external regulatory bodies.
Collaborating with Student Services and Career Services to ensure targets are met.
Investigating and making recommendations to the Campus Director on issues related to student and employee relations.
Providing administrative support to the academic team.
4. Managing the development of educational programs, curriculum and instructional materials, in accordance with relevant regulations by:
Developing and implementing departmental goals and measurements to ensure departmental performance meets strategic, student retention, instructional costing, and student success targets.
Coordinating the development of programs of study, course descriptions, and syllabi for each class, including selection and timely acquisition of textbooks and related academics equipment and supplies.
Researching and understanding the education program needs as dictated by the external market and ensuring the College is responsive to changing demands.
Assisting in all accreditation processes and applications, including coordination of accreditation visits
Position Requirements
To be successful in the Student Services Coordinator position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:
Education and Experience:
Degree or diploma in a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Basic training in office practices.
Minimum three years’ office experience in a service oriented, fast paced environment.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills
Keyboarding speed at 40wpm with accuracy
Solid working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to troubleshoot minor computer problems
Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task
Ability to use various office equipment including fax and photocopy machines
Ability to handle a multi-line telephone switchboard
Ability to complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Good judgement and ability to prioritize assignments
Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
Knowledge of the provincial Student Assistance Program
Understanding of the programs and services provided by the organization
Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service
Provisos:
Overtime during peak periods may be required
