This role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join our team at Wallop, a rapidly growing digital advertising agency. As a key member of the executive team, they will play a crucial role in the execution of the company’s strategies and will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable systems and procedures to support the company’s growth.

On a day-to-day basis, the Director of Finance will…

• Be an active member of the executive team
  • Taking part in long-term business planning at the executive level; maintaining a system of operational and accounting policies and procedures
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points and design, build, and implement an improved documentation process and SOPs
• Be accountable for leading our finance function
  • Leading annual and quarterly budgeting activities and set accountabilities, as well as develop an internal training program for new employees (i.e. Wallop Academy)
  • Overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, modelling, analysis, and financial reporting as well as identifying and mitigating financial risks and opportunities
  • Developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations
  • Managing the company’s cash flow and liquidity, and ensure that the company has adequate funding to support its growth
  • Working closely with the service teams to ensure all financial elements of the client relationship are managed, tracked, monitored, and communicated Evaluating financial performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Devising strategies to ensure the growth of programs company-wide, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output and minimize costs
• Support our Operations & HR functions
  • Formalize our remote work policies and improve processes across digital platforms
  • Forecast and set budgets for salaries, bonuses, and benefits across departments
  • Be accountable for the payroll process and bookkeeper
  • Ensure our policies comply with provincial and federal law and employment standards
  • Administer our benefits program and ensure they are competitive
  • Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues

Skills & Experience

• CPA with at least five years of experience in finance and accounting
• Strong understanding of agencies or professional service firms, their unique needs, including job cost control and optimizing staff utilization
• Proven ability to build scalable financial systems and procedures
• Excellent leadership and management skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

• You’re team-oriented but equally happy to work on solo projects
• While you do not need to be based in Vancouver, we do ask that your working hours cross over with our core work hours
