Job Overview
Working under minimal direction, this role contributes to Wawanesa’s success by leading Application Delivery teams delivering Enhancement changes within the Guidewire Insurance Suite, PolicyCenter component. This leader will oversee all phases of delivery including the analysis, development, testing and deployment, coordinating with other IS and Product teams to deliver high quality changes which enable the organizations objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Participate and lead development of application delivery plans by consulting with IS and business stakeholders with focus on Guidewire Insurance Suite – PolicyCenter and related systems and services.
Leverage industry best practices, domain knowledge and functional expertise to inform solutions.
Manage resources to ensure successful completion/implementation of application delivery plans that include new application features, enhancements, defects, and technical vitality items.
Communicate delivery plans and progress to all stakeholders.
Ensure continuous improvement in organizational processes. Help establish processes, policies and procedures, as well as improve current application of delivery methodologies. Ensure processes and procedures are followed once implemented.
Oversee and coach a team to ensure work environment is respectful, challenging, and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of the company’s goals.
Help prepare and manage the department’s budget.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
5 years’ experience in a senior IS role.
Post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience.
Understanding and experience using agile and DevOps methodologies to deliver and maintain solutions.
Understanding of emerging technology and industry market trends.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, able to effectively deal with both internal stakeholders and external service providers.
Advanced service orientation with the ability to present ideas, technical solutions and delivery approaches in a business-friendly context.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a busy workload and multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
Demonstrated ability to lead others to perform effectively as well as embrace and adapt to change quickly.
Ability to develop effective plans that define activities, resources, timelines and cost estimates.
Ability to make well justified decisions in complex and high-pressure situations.
Experience in the insurance/finance industry and specifically Guidewire products is considered an asset.
