Summary:
The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The main role is to support the physicians and WELL Health clinic management in the clinic operations and delivering patient care. All tasks must be delivered to meet standards and procedures established by BC College of Physicians and Surgeons and the WELL Health Clinic Network procedure manuals or otherwise requested by Clinic Management.
Key responsibilities:
Administrative duties – answer calls and greet patients in a helpful, respectful, and efficient manner, update, and file patients’ medical records, file out insurance forms, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handle billing and bookkeeping. Also Maintain electronic medical records, including the patient chart. Perform tasks (including linking, uploading, and referrals) in support of patient care.
Lab Duties – include collecting and preparing laboratory specimens or performing basic laboratory tests on the premises, disposing of contaminated supplies, and sterilizing medical instruments.
Patient Care duties – Coordinate patient care through the clinic: checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, preparing exam or treatment rooms, answering questions, providing post-appointment service, monitoring the waiting room
General duties – Ensure to keep patient information confidential and secure at all times. Perform all other related clinical, administrative tasks, or special tasks as required by clinic management.
Requirements:
A Team Player
1-2 years experience as an MOA
Experience with EMR system OSCAR and a good understanding of MSP billing are assets
Computer skill (MS Office)
Detail Oriented and Highly organized (with the proven ability to effectively and efficiently organize multiple priorities)
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Open and accountable
Confident, friendly ‘people person’ who can establish and maintain solid relationships
Understanding of medical clinic operations and regulatory framework/requirements
High tolerance for fast-paced environments
Ability to work varying shift patterns as needed by the clinic (including evenings and weekends)
High school diploma or the equivalent (preference for graduates of formal MOA programs)
