AMBULATORY CLERK
(Casual Part Time)
A casual part time Ambulatory Clerk position is available at North Wellington Health Care. The homesite for this position is Louise Marshall Hospital.
This position is unionized with OPSEU, Local 226.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting directly to the Patient Care Manager of Louise Marshall Hospital, this position will be responsible for supporting OR Bookings, Diabetes Bookings, Respiratory Therapy admin, and other Ambulatory Care department bookings. This position is also responsible for some switchboard break and COVID Screening desk coverage.
OR Bookings/Ambulatory Care:
Schedule OR/ time in conjunction with Physicians, Physician’s offices etc.
Using the hospital information systems follow the registration standards and ensure accurate registration of patients with current valid information for each visit.
Manage contacts in a professional manner understanding the patient is first and foremost.
Confidentiality of all information is a requirement of employment as well as compliance with the Privacy Act, hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Clerical duties including (but not limited to) organizing of patient information, word processing, filing, chart retrieval/organization, requisition completion, statistical compliance, excel spreadsheets (data entry/organizing data), photocopying and compiling pre operative and other packages for patients and staff of surgical services
Relief for switchboard breaks and lunch coverage as per schedule
Bookings for Internist consultations
Bookings for OR Procedural Clinic (ORCL) days
Diabetes Education & Respiratory Admin Support:
Arranging appointments in conjunction with clinicians, answering telephone, making reminder calls, and receiving patient referral forms, preparing charts and chart management
Entering departmental statistics as needed
Referral processing and wait list maintenance as needed
Word processing and department communications (i.e. letters, minutes, memos, typing procedures, faxing, and photocopying)
Support prep of clinics, classes and education activities (i.e. accessing lab information, booking of rooms, preparing education materials)
Maintenance of office supplies
Assist with department maintenance
Respiratory Admin – facilitate the sending, receiving and processing of diagnostic reports for interpretation
Relief for switchboard breaks and lunch coverage as per schedule / request
QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Office Administration Certificate (or related program)
Medical Terminology course or willingness to obtain
Excellent computer proficiency specifically Excel, Word and Community Wide Scheduling
Previous registration experience using Meditech
Exceptional communication, public relations, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Effective problem solver with demonstrated critical thinking and conflict resolution skills
Effective organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task and use time efficiently
Ability to work independently
Satisfactory performance and attendance required
Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired
HOURS OF WORK:
On an as needed basis, as per department schedule
As per Collective Agreement
SALARY: $23.03 – $23.81
