GENERAL MAINTENANCE

(FULL TIME)

The Maintenance department is currently seeking a full time General Maintenance staff member to perform general maintenance services within Groves Memorial Community Hospital and the Legacy Groves Memorial Hospital locations.

This position is unionized with UNIFOR Service, Local 1106.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform daily preventative and emergency maintenance on facility equipment and building systems
• Maintain daily logs for system checks
• Carry out repairs as directed and as necessary to all types of building equipment and systems
• Care for and maintain hospital equipment and tools
• Assist with the installation and removal of equipment
• Deliver and pick up equipment and supplies as needed
• Complete minor building construction, carpentry, repairs and paint projects as needed
• Maintain and operate all equipment related to Grounds Keeping –experienced zero turn operator, chain saw/pole saw, tree pruning, gardening and flower beds.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess and have proven skills and experience related to the care and repair of building systems which may include and is not limited to the following: preventive and general maintenance of equipment and buildings as well as facility properties, general plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting;
• Proven work history for operating zero turn, chainsaw/pole saw, and grounds keeping experience. Chainsaw license would be an asset;
• Must possess a current and valid G driver’s license;
• Be knowledgeable with WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• Proven work history with regards to being punctual, dependable, and work with minimal supervision and a team player in an ever changing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical demands of the job require tasks that involve repeated lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, periodic climbing which include ladders, operation of lawn machines and other equipment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Satisfactory performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired

HOURS OF WORK:

• 37.5 hours per week
• On-call as per schedule
• As per department schedule
• Overtime as necessary

SALARY: as per UNIFOR Service Salary grid
