About this role:
As the company’s second line of defense, Corporate Risk – or Independent Risk Management – provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo’s risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline’s execution of its risk management responsibilities.
Wells Fargo is seeking an Enterprise Risk Initiatives Lead, VP (internally known as Lead Business Execution Consultant) – Americas and International Risk Initiatives, is responsible for supporting Wells Fargo’s Regional Chief Risk Office, Corporate & Investment Banking for the Americas in managing the organization’s risks and managing the combined impact of those risks as an interrelated risk portfolio to achieve the company’s objectives. The role will provide oversight over enterprise risk programs and strategic initiatives across the International Regions with the majority of time devoted specifically to the Americas.
The role will be based in the Toronto office.
In this role, you will:
Closely engage and influence multiple business and functional stakeholders from enterprise and regional teams to drive forward and execute key risk initiatives, communicate best practices and create consistency where appropriate.
Support multiple high priority initiatives that cross multiple lines of business, functions and risk areas. Holistically review and analyze book of work to identify areas for increased collaboration and enhancement.
Make well-reasoned decisions in complex situations with aspects of uncertainty which require solid understanding of business group’s functional area or products, facilitate decision making and issue resolution, and support implementation of developed solutions and plans while leveraging a solid understanding of risk policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
Participate and develop, implement, and monitor risk-based governance programs to identify, assess and mitigate risks across lines of business and risk domains in multiple risk categories for Enterprise Risk across the Americas, ensuring they are executed efficiently and understood throughout the broader risk team and its business partners.
Contribute to the management and oversight of strategic and model risks across the Americas, including coordination of review and challenge of enterprise risk/ foundational programs, processes and governance oversight responsibilities.
Create succinct and relevant reporting summaries, reports and briefing notes covering key risk matters and metrics for presentation at executive level forums, committees and briefing notes.
Required Qualifications, International:
5+ years of Risk Management experience (Compliance, Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Audit, Legal, Credit Risk, Market Risk, IT Systems Security, Business Process Management) or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Experience working in or with diverse teams across multiple geographical regions.
Ability to analyze and articulate business issues and identify key risks / mitigating controls.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced, team-based matrix environment.
Strong knowledge and experience of enterprise / corporate risk management in financial institutions.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in one or a combination of the following: complex project management, enterprise / corporate risk, strategic planning and governance, and business management.
Strategic and forward-looking understanding of enterprise risk disciplines and concerns.
