PROFILE SUMMARY

Wesgroup is poised for significant growth over the next few years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our team.

This position reports to by the Manager, Payroll and Benefits.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Payroll

• Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees
• Tracking new hire onboarding documents and ensure accurate information recorded in payroll system
• Setting up new hires in the payroll system
• Maintain all employees’ payroll and HR files both physical and electronic copies
• Prepare electronic Record of Employment (ROE) for terminated and/or leave of absence employees and submit to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
• Prepare manual pay request for off-cycle payroll payments, calculating statutory deductions, and updating employee records in payroll system
• Respond to and solve payroll inquiries
• Prepare employment letter and payroll records for employees
• Assist in year-end processes such as T4/T4A issuance, WCB and EHT reconciliation
• Support Manager, Payroll and Benefits for ad-hoc reports
• Perform additional duties as required

Benefits

• Enroll employees in group benefits plan on insurance carrier’s online portal
• Tracking employees’ benefits enrollment forms and maintain filing of benefits forms
• Tracking employees’ benefits eligibility and make appropriate changes based on insurance policy
• Setup benefit premium deductions in payroll system
• Setup RRSP and TFSA semi-monthly employee contribution and company matching in payroll system
• Respond to and solve benefit inquiries
• Prepare monthly benefit payment invoice to accounting department
• Reconcile taxable benefits and benefits deduction reports with benefits billings
• Update year-to-date taxable amounts in the pay period when needed
• Perform additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2 years payroll processing and benefits administration experience
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an asset but not required
• Experience with Payroll Software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Ceridian (Dayforce) is an asset but not required
• Great computer skills including Excel skills such as VLook-up and Pivot tables
• Handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism
• Great time management skills and ability to meet tight and competing deadlines
