Human Resources & Administrative Intern

The Human Resources & Administrative Intern role is an opportunity to get to know Western Group and the transportation and logistics industry, as well as hone human resources and administrative skills.

The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, People & Sustainability, this position will handle a variety of personnel related administrative tasks and will provide clerical support to the HR department and employees regarding people related activities, projects, policies, processes, and procedures.

You will be part of a motivated and diverse team and be given the autonomy and support to do your best work.

Responsibilities & Activities

• Support people and administrative related projects
• Maintain and organize accurate and comprehensive personnel records.
• Support staff recruitments including updating job descriptions, job postings, screening candidates, scheduling employment interviews/testing, completing reference checks, and support onboarding.
• Assist to maintain our HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now), ensuring all data is correct.
• Run reports and compile data on an as needed basis.
• Support salaried payroll and benefits administration.
• Answer employee inquiries.
• Draft and post people related messaging internally and on Social Media channels.
• Provide general administrative support to the Human Resources/Administrative team.

Qualifications & Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, with strong administrative and organizational skills
• Excellent typing, data entry and computer skills, including the full Microsoft Office suite and Office 365.
• Proficiency in digital platform design (Canva) and content management (Wordpress) is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
