About Us
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).
The Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging (CCAA) was established in 1989 as a research and community centre, affiliated with the Lawson Research Institute of St. Joseph’s Health Centre and the Faculties of Kinesiology and of Medicine and Dentistry at Western. Shortly after its establishment the Centre received a federal grant to develop exercise and leadership programs for older adults.
Responsibilities
Note: It is expected that this position will be filled internally by reappointment.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Course Educator Support is responsible for leading and delivering leadership courses for the CCAA. The incumbent will also assist in course curriculum review, content development and oversee interactive fitness classes delivered through the CCAA. The Course Educator Support will work closely and support undergraduate and graduate students during clinical placement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports the creation, revision, delivery and upkeep of CCAA leadership courses as needed.
Evaluates, reviews and grades assignments and requirements for participants who are working towards the Senior Fitness Instructor Course (SFIC) certification and/or renewal process.
Oversees the coordination and quality control of fitness classes online and in-person delivered through the CCAA
Ability to use Zoom video conferencing application to generate and share meeting links with participants.
Coordinates with students to develop a safe virtual environment for the delivery of leadership courses and fitness classes.
Works toward fulfillment of participant goals as outlined on the SFIC Standards.
Attends educational in-services that are deemed appropriate by the CCAA.
Reports any situations that are deemed inappropriate to the CCAA.
Ensures all incidents are reported in a timely manner in accordance with legislation and Western’s policies and procedures.
Functions and reports in compliance with the Western’s and CCAA policies and procedures.
