Job Title: Junior Corporate Accountant

About the Role:
In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day corporate accounting, assist with onboarding and accounting for new property acquisitions, prepare and coordinate distributions for investors, and assist in the development of process and best practices for assigned accounting tasks. Those candidates who have an elevated level of competency and understanding of the real estate industry will be given priority. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with some industry experience or who has just graduated with an accounting degree and is planning to complete the CPA program. You will be working directly with the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Corporate reporting
- Responsible for day-to-day accounting, reporting and banking transactions of the Arizona 88 and WWC U.S. Multifamily Real Estate funds.
- Assists the Senior Corporate Accountant with day-to-day accounting, reporting, and banking transactions of the Company’s corporate entities, including liaising with the property accounting team.
- Assists the finance team with bank reconciliations, bank transactions, and review of payables.
- Assists in the preparation of annual institutional reporting and the external financial audits, as directed by the Accounting Manager and/or Corporate Controller.
- Acquisitions:
- Assist with new acquisitions by ordering ASC-805 reports and cost seg reports.
- Monitoring and posting Investor funds, this will include ensuring funds are received into the correct account, saving wire documentation, and following up with outstanding investor funds.
- Manage investor information by downloading from the investor portal and importing into Yardi.
- Assist the Corporate Accountant with monthly maintenance of the investors LP books, bank reconciliation, posting transaction and monitoring of the ownership percentages.
- Assist with processing and coordinating the annual distributions, refinance distributions, disposition distributions, and pref distributions.
- Assist with accounting research and issue resolution to determine the accounting and disclosure implications of significant transactions as well as the implementation thereof.
- Generate the outstanding cheque list and email to Investor Relations.

- Assist with special ad hoc projects periodically requested by the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.
- Assist in the review and design of best practices with the department’s acquisition accounting and reporting procedures and processes.
Competencies, Qualifications and Required Experience:
- A degree in accounting or related field is required
- The candidate is currently enrolled or is planning to enroll in the CPA program
- A recent university graduate or 1-2 years of industry or public firm experience would be preferred
- Experience in the commercial real estate, residential real estate, or property management sectors would be preferred
- Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP and well-rounded knowledge of accounting and financial reporting processes
- Experience with Yardi Voyager software is an asset
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Possesses strong computer skills, including solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Can prioritize and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines
- Exceptional administrative skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in day-to-day work in an accurate manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can collaborate with individuals across departments and countries
- Works well independently as well as part of a team; takes initiative and is comfortable with pushing conventional thinking
