About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Payroll and Benefits; the US Payroll Administrator will process bi-weekly US payroll including preparing standard payroll reports, reconciliations, and maintaining adequate employee back-up documentation for audit purposes. As a member of the Talent Operations team, the US Payroll Administrator will work collaboratively with other team members to respond to employee inquiries, investigate, and resolve employee pay-related issues in a timely manner. The Payroll Administrator will also reconcile and manage year-end data including W-2 forms.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the processing of biweekly US payroll and US benefit deductions using UKG software (formerly UltiPro)
Review and verify data to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and statutory requirements, employment agreements, payroll policies and procedures
Process expense reimbursements and current/retro payments for salary/rate changes as required
Validate that US benefit deductions, taxes, and adjustments are correctly processed, and calculate manual gross-to-net payments when necessary
Reconcile group benefit deductions and 401(k) contributions against provider enrolment and participation records
Respond to queries from employees
Contact payroll provider for any related issues with pay as needed
Create new hire files and manage filing for documents received in payroll
Process W-2s and all related year-end activities
Qualifications:
Proven experience managing US Payroll
Solid expertise with online payroll management systems is required; UKG (formerly UltiPro) payroll experience is preferred
Thorough understanding of US payroll laws and regulations, particularly state laws in New York and California, group benefits programs and their payroll application
Strong background in Canadian payroll would be an asset
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is required
Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
“Can-do” attitude, strong client/customer service orientation
Highly effective organizational skills, combined with the ability to multitask and prioritize on a daily and weekly basis to meet set and changing deadlines
High degree of business and personal sensitivity, utmost discretion and confidentiality
Strong problem-solving skills
