8 Week Placement – 35 Hours/Week – $15/hr
Vision: Windsor Family Homes & Community Partnerships (WFHCP) vision is to have a community where everyone is able to thrive in a safe and affordable home.
Mission: WFHCP exists to provide safe, clean, affordable and accessible housing to those in need in Windsor & Essex County. The organization strives to work collaboratively with community partners to maintain and facilitate successful tenancies and eradicate homelessness while providing food, shelter and support programs.
Intern Duties & Responsibilities:
· Shadow the Coordinator of Tenant Advocacy when meeting with clients
· Eventually manage own case load
· Write thorough case notes that adhere to the agency’s policies
· Attend community meetings
· Assist in facilitating group sessions or activities
· Finding creative solutions to supporting tenants especially remotely due to current social distancing protocols
· Implementing theories to practice such as strengths-based perspective, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, etc.
· Developing mindfulness activities for children participating in summer camp
· Weekly meetings with supervisor regarding performance review
· Critical self reflection and evaluation
· Observing how the food bank operates
· Answering phone calls and completing an intake assessment
· Other duties as assigned
Assets:
· Knowledge in Housing First
· Knowledge in homelessness
· Personal laptop
Requirements:
· Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening
· Age 15-30 when the placement begins
· Enrolled in or graduated from a University level Bachelor of Social Work Program or a combination of related work experience and education
