WISE Trust – Workplace Insurance and Safety Employee Trust – is the defined benefit pension plan for almost 10,000 active, deferred, and retired workplace insurance and safety employees of Ontario.

WISE Trust was established to give the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and the Ontario Compensation Employees’ Union (OCEU) an equal voice in the administration of the pension plan through a jointly sponsored pension plan. WISE Trust governed by a Board of Trustees, four appointed by the WSIB and four appointed by OCEU.

As the Communications Specialist, you will uphold the WISE Trust brand and values as you craft compelling internal and external messaging and manage various communication channels. This includes, but is not limited to, driving member engagement through developing website content, newsletters, annual reports, annual pension statement inserts, and guidebooks. As an expert in communications, you will support the organization in building out clear and concise communication material and presentations, while upholding AODA and best practice standards.

Position Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in communications, stakeholder support, and public relations
• Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
• Background in financial or pension communications
• Strong understanding of the AODA and Canadian Press style writing
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to draft clear and compelling internal and external communications
• Ability to translate technical concepts into audience-centric plain language
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels both internally and externally (with vendors, stakeholders, media)
• Demonstrates shared values, embracing a mindset of meaningful partnership, empathy, respect, and trust in everyday interactions
• Experience with WordPress, Adobe Suite, SharePoint, Marketing Automation software, MailChimp, Social Media management (specifically LinkedIn), and Zoom Webinars

Employment Type: This is a temporary maternity leave coverage position and is positioned as an approximately 12 to 15 month contract. While we are (mostly) a remote organization, this role will involve in-person attendance as required and only applicants that have reliable transportation to Toronto, Ontario will be considered at this time.
