Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is a provincial non-profit organization committed to increasing women’s participation in trades and technology. With private and public funding, WRDC offers a variety of programs and services to address the challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in these sectors. Over the past 20 years, WRDC has positioned itself as a key partner for advancing gender equity in the workplace.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Workplace Diversity & Inclusion Specialist responsible for developing and mobilizing diversity and inclusion strategies, initiatives, and programming that assist in the attraction, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in skilled trades and technology careers. The Workplace Diversity & Inclusion Specialist is also responsible for facilitating and delivering consultation services and training programs to promote and sustain diversity, inclusion, equity, and respect.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide subject matter expertise in Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, including best and emerging practices and current research findings
• Deliver approved programming both in person as well as virtually in the form of, training, facilitation, and presentations to broad and diverse audiences
• Develop recruitment and retention strategies, tools, and techniques in consultation with stakeholders (i.e., policy review, assessments, framework development)
• Develop materials for use in information sessions, presentations, training sessions/workshops, or by employers
• Facilitate and/or co-facilitate online and onsite training offerings using a variety of creative techniques aligned with adult learning principles.
• Ensure continuous improvement of training materials to ensure best practices, emerging information, and strategies, identify new training needs and present solutions to address gaps.
• Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate programming to ensure program requirements are met and WRDC standards, guidelines and policies are maintained
• Authorize expenditures within the existing budget(s) and make budget recommendations
• Ensure program statistics are up to date and gather information for reports
• Maintain databases and reference materials for Employer Programs
• Provide program updates, as well as status and summary reports, to the COO and/or Partners on a regular basis
• Prepare or assist in preparation of proposals
• Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders
• Other duties as requested

Qualifications and Requirements

• University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work
• Demonstrated knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies, particularly as they relate to employment/workplaces
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation
• Highly sophisticated communication skills (oral & written): ability to establish contacts and build long term relationships; work collaboratively with businesses, industry associations, government, education institutions, indigenous groups, and community organizations
• Demonstrated experience in facilitation and presenting to broad audiences
• High degree of computer literacy and advanced working knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office applications
• High regard for quality, accuracy, attention to detail
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborate and work effectively in a team environment; flexibility to meet workload demands
• Related experience in the not-for-profit sector, and/or women centered organizations is considered an asset
• Bilingualism (English / French) is considered an asset
• Business travel insurance coverage is required for this role and will be reimbursed in accordance with WRDC policies
• Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon employment and every two years there after

• Hybrid / Remote / Flexible work environment
• Primarily 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday; some flexibility is required
• Travel is required for this role. Travel expenses will be covered in accordance with WRDC policies.

Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000 per annum. WRDC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Starting salary will commensurate with experience and skills.
