About the role:

Reporting to the Member of Parliament, the Constituency Assistant will primarily be responsible for providing outreach support and coordination activities. The position is a key operational strategist in advancing and facilitating the Member’s main objectives and priorities through outreach, events planning and other strategic activities.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

• Engage in outreach activities to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Manage outreach campaigns to address complex social and political issues throughout the riding.
• Attend events, meetings, and gatherings in the riding with the Member.
• Plan and coordinate meetings, travel arrangements, appointments and conferences, and provide specific and relevant information to the Member on all relevant matters.
• Reviews and discusses commitments, schedules meetings/events and informs the Member of any changes.
• Drafts responses to constituent emails and letters.
• Performs other related duties within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of event planning.
• Experience working in an office setting.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to new situations.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public and stakeholders.

Assets:

• Knowledge of the political environment and/or experience working in a political office setting.

Hours of Work:Part Time, Occasional evening and weekend work and some travel may be required.
