As a Health and Safety Instructor for WMC, you would be required to:
- Deliver health and safety training programs to WMC clients, including CPO-approved Working at Heights and JHSC programs, in accordance with CPO standards, WMC standards, and lesson plans
- Remain current with health and safety industry, regulations, best practices, and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), CSA, and other provincial standards
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, with 5+ years of training experience, excellent communication skills and knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, requirements, and best practices in Ontario. The candidate is skilled at implementing training programs that engage participants and understands the importance on adhering to program standards and guidelines as set out by the CPO.
Instructors must have the following qualifications:
- Technical occupational health & safety knowledge and experience obtained through at least one of the following:
o a professional occupational health and safety designation,
o successful completion of at least 30 hours of occupational health and safety training over the last two years,
o five years of recent occupational health and safety experience;
o a degree, diploma, or certificate in occupational health and safety from a recognized post-secondary institution, or three continuous years of experience as a certified joint health and safety committee member
- Combination of adult-education delivery experience and knowledge of principles obtained through at least one of the following:
o more than 100 hours of adult education delivery experience in the last five years,
o a degree, diploma, or certificate in adult-education principles from a recognized post-secondary institution,
o a professional training and development designation, or successful completion of an instructor training program based on adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of the CPO-approved training program topics obtained through at least one of the following:
o more than five years of recent delivery experience on the approved training program topic(s),
o successful completion of a train-the-trainer session for an approved training program as evaluated by the approved training provider, or
o successful co-facilitation of a minimum of two sessions of the approved training program as evaluated by the approved training provider
The successful candidate should also have the following:
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in distance learning platforms, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Own laptop and LCD projector
- Flexibility with scheduling
