WHO WE ARE

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport. As the global regulatory body, WADA’s primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries. Our key activities include: scientific and social science research; education; intelligence & investigations; development of anti-doping capacity; and, monitoring of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Program.

POSITION OVERVIEW

WADA’s Education Department leads and supports the development of education policy; manages partnerships to increase the reach and access to education programs and information; creates and implements education solutions and training programs for anti-doping practitioners and invests in social science research to enhance the effectiveness of education programs and the broader anti-doping system.

The Manager will work within the Education Department, leading and managing the development of education content, programs and resources to support anti-doping practitioners in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of their education plan, in alignment with the International Standard for Education, considering trends, strengths and weaknesses in anti-doping organizations’ education programs worldwide.

This role will also support other areas of work within the Education Department, including by developing training content for key anti-doping practitioners’ roles, supporting the organization of the recurring Global Education Conference, and conducting reviews of anti-doping organization’s compliance with the International Standard for Education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Based on trends and data evaluating stakeholders’ capability across the clean sport education community, develop educational programs, courses, resources and other materials that embed pedagogical/andragogical principles and that meet the required quality standards, publishing on ADEL in WADA’s official languages, as a minimum;
  • Manage the development and dissemination of resources to support stakeholders in achieving their education requirements under the Code and International Standard for Education, including WADA’s education solutions for anti-doping organizations targeting frontline users (athletes, athlete support personnel, and wider identified audiences), liaising and collaborating with the internal technical teams, external subject matter experts, athlete representatives, consultants and suppliers;
  • Lead, implement and manage the Digital Learning Content Development Plan for the Department, including project planning, content storyboarding, learning asset creation and learning assessment, and managing the translation and review process into French and Spanish;
  • Develop pre-Games education solutions for Major Events, building and managing relationships with key international and continental stakeholders and partners as it relates to the co-creation process;
  • Act as the internal Digital Learning Team lead for core education and training programs such as Code Implementation Support Program (CISP), managing the development of new education resources, and Global Learning and Development Framework (GLDF), developing e-learning content in collaboration with the ADO Capability team;
  • Lead the evaluation/assessment of learning impact, utilizing ADEL data to highlight trends and discover insight to support the continuous improvement cycle, working with the Social Science Research team;
  • Conduct Code Compliance Questionnaire reviews related to the education programs of anti-doping organizations to support the implementation of the International Standard for Education;
  • Contribute to the Education Department’s overall remit and associated strategy, including through supporting the Education Committee’s meetings and work, by representing WADA at key education events as required, and by assisting in the organization of the recurring Global Education Conference.

MAIN CHALLENGES

  • Ability to manage the development of multiple programs and resources at once, and at varying stages of the publication and/or design process, coordinating with internal technical reviewers, the legal department, and external stakeholders, and ensuring that programs are published on time and become accessible for ADOs to translate into further languages as needed;
  • Ability to work with, and manage subject matter experts, converting highly technical content into accessible and educational language suitable for a range of target audiences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • University degree in education or equivalent with a minimum five years’ experience in the development and delivery of education programs in line with pedagogical and andragogical principals;
  • Passionate about sport and education;
  • High level of anti-doping technical knowledge and experience of working in an anti-doping environment an asset;
  • Experience with course curation software such as Rise/Articulate, in addition experience with Photoshop, InDesign and Adobe Pro, an asset;
  • Proficient in managing robust design, publication and quality management processes;
  • Experience with education program development in an international setting, including dealing with language/translations and cultural sensitivities;
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), including providing customer service and data analytics;
  • Experience in collaborating with stakeholders (internal and external) and providing a high-quality service for stakeholders;
  • Ability to conduct long-term planning and manage multiple projects at varying stages to meet publication timelines;
  • Excellent oral and written skills in one of the two WADA official languages (English/French) and very good command of the other official language; Additional languages, in particular Spanish would be an asset;
  • Periodic work in the evening or on weekends;
  • Travel maybe required (an estimated average of 3-4 working weeks per year);
