WSP Canada is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual for the role of Solar Market Sector Lead. As a member of the Power Canada business unit, the successful candidate will lead client management and business development activities relative to Solar Energy for our Renewables market — with the goal of building on WSP’s status as a preferred and trusted choice for clients and partners.
The Solar market lead is an active member of the strategic planning activities designed to drive strong market growth across Canada. In line with WSP’s collaborative culture, the ideal candidate is a natural collaborator who thrives on working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary work environment that supports the continued growth of our Renewables business across Canada. They will work alongside our market and discipline leads across Canada.
The successful candidate for this position will be based in Canada. Periodic travel will be required to meet with the team, which is based at WSP offices across Canada.
Responsibilities for this role generally fall within three categories: Business and strategic development (±50%) and project management/technical support (±50%). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

A day in the life
Business and Strategic Development
Oversee key client and account management responsibilities , including organizing/facilitating internal meetings with account teams , acting as primary client liaison, day-to-day management of / and resolution of client issues, as required
Identify opportunities, define a winning strategy , and lead the proposal process collaboratively with key disciplines, business lines, and stakeholders
Participate in strategic planning activities to develop and implement an effective business development strategy
Build and maintain lasting client relationships
Identify and participate in industry events in order to represent WSP and contribute to Solar market activities
Coordinate and preparat e in the delivery of business development materials and presentations
Collaborate with discipline teams to identify resource gaps and attract candidates
Stay apprised of Solar market developments and share updates with the WSP Renewables team;
Identify and recommend professional development opportunities for Renewables staff
Project Management /Technical Support
Manage multidisciplinary Solar projects
Engage in client management and liaison activities to support effective project execution
Participate in technical aspects of projects aligned with the candidate’s expertise.
We would love to hear from you if you have…
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Solid technical expertise in one of the following disciplines that apply to Solar projects: civil, structural, geotechnical, resource assessment, or electrical . Experience spanning multiple disciplines considered an asset.
Demonstrated business development and strategic growth experience in the Canadian Solar industry ;
Registration (or ability to register) as a P.Eng. in Canada ;
Proven track record with client engagement approaches ;
Established and well-maintained working relationships with independent power producers, constructors and suppliers ;
Excellent leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal ) ;
Effective time management, as it relates to team management and deliverables .
