Continuing Education Principal – Secondary
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Curriculum, Program and Assessment, the Continuing Education Principal-Secondary provides strategic planning for the delivery of secondary Continuing Education programming for Secondary schools, including international languages programming.
In addition, the Principal supports site/supervising principals and teachers in the delivery of the Secondary continuing education programs, as well as Adult General Interest Programs.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determine course offerings and site locations for Continuing Education Secondary school programs and international languages programs;
Liaise with day school administration to meet the needs of the Continuing Education Secondary program offerings;
Investigate and develop new Continuing Education Secondary programs and Adult General Interest programs, as well as updating and improving current program offerings;
Manage, motivate and lead instructors, program consultants and clerks, ensuring the team possesses the resources necessary to meet and exceed students’ expectations of the secondary Continuing Education programs, international languages and Adult General Interest programs;
Respond to inquiries and complaints from students and/or parents and resolve or mediate any disputes that arise related to program areas;
Develop, implement and deliver department and Ministry reports, including the updating and maintaining of various databases;
Maintain an annual budget for Continuing Education secondary school programs and international languages programs;
Collaborate with the Adult and Continuing Education Principal-Elementary and ESL Manager with the overall department budget responsibility; and
Other duties within the Curriculum and Assessment Department, as assigned by the Superintendent of Curriculum and Assessment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Ontario School Principal’s Qualifications Parts I/II as per Ontario Regulation 176/10 (Teachers’ Qualifications) made under the Ontario College of Teachers’ Act.
A minimum of one (1) year in the role of Principal;
Be available to work year round, including March Break and summer;
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well in a team, motivate others, and build Catholic learning communities of faith;
Previous experience as a school admin in the Continuing ed program is considered an asset.
A strategic problem solver and systems thinker, able to handle complex problems, and manage stress effectively;
Knowledge of best practices in instructional strategies, assessment and evaluation and the improvement of student achievement in schools; and
Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills;
Part III of the Religious Education Course (equivalency or commitment to completion of same or another approved program (eg. The Catholic Leadership Program offered at St. Michael’s University of Toronto));
A participating member of a Catholic worshiping community as attested by your Parish priest via Pastoral Reference, dated by your Parish Priest within the last 12 months;
Special Education Part 1 Course or the Special Education for Administrators AQ Course;
