Education:
Undergraduate degree. Preferably in computer science, math/statistics, or business. Or equivalent combination of liberal arts degree with further education/experience computer science or data analytics, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of work experience in data analysis and related application tools in a business office/results oriented service environment.An understanding of and appreciation for continuing education in an academic environment is desirable. Knowledge of a Student Registration and Information System, and the data contained, is an asset. Experience in managing IT data projects and coordinating effective work flow in a fast-paced office is preferred.
Skills:
Demonstrable advanced proficiency and experience with desktop productivity tools like Excel, Google Analytics, and other data reporting applications is required. Advanced knowledge of, and direct working experience with, a relational database management system (such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server). Understanding and experience using report-generating software such as SQL Server Reporting Services, Actuate BIRT Report designer or Crystal Reports. Demonstrated competencies of data management. Exposure to or experience with Tableau. Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong analytical skills. Confidence to make informed decisions and to make recommendations based on those decisions. Ability to question in detail to understand and gather end user requirements and translate into solutions. Exceptional interpersonal skills, detail oriented. Sets high standards of performance for self and desires constant improvement over previous levels. Proactive in responding to client needs and requirements. Plans ahead in order to establish an efficient and appropriate course of action for self. Critically evaluates a problem or issue identifying a range of possible options for solutions. Experience working as an effective member of a team.
