Yukon Government Looking for Financial Specialist – Trainer at Whitehorse, YT Full Time

Working in the Finance and Administration Branch, and reporting to the Branch Financial Manager, the Financial Specialist/Trainer supports the financial management and planning of program delivery for schools by supporting and overseeing the management of schools’ financial reporting and provides support to administrators and administrative staff. This position also trains, mentors and supports financial and administrative positions within the branch and Yukon Schools.

Essential Qualifications: (what we are looking for in your resume)

• Post-Secondary coursework in business or office administration, with an emphasis on Accounting
• Considerable experience providing financial administrative support
• Experience working with Simply Accounting, Sage, or other similar accounting/bookkeeping software
• Experience using a variety of computer software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• Experience working with a Student Information Database System would be considered an asset
• Experience training and mentoring a team including developing and delivering a standardized training plan would be considered an asset
• Experience working with a school setting (parents, students, staff and school councils) would be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered

• Ability to work in an open office environment with constant interruptions and changing priorities
• Effective organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines
• Demonstrated leadership skills

• Ability to assess training needs of administrative staff
• Excellent oral and written communications skills

Additional Information:
Conditions of Employment: Security Clearance (Vulnerable Sector)

Job requirements: regular travel to communities within the territory.

Relocation assistance is not available with this position.
