We seek a General Accountant to support ZoomerMedia finance team and work closely with the accounting team, and be a pivotal contributor to the month-end and year-end accounting close and financial reporting.
Major responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare, send, and post daily sales invoices
- Resolve customer queries
- Record payment receipts, prepare deposit slips, and maintain A/R sub-ledger
- Reconcile AR sub-ledger
- Prepare and analyze AR aging report and work with Collections Manager to follow up on past due accounts
- Prepare and distribute revenue reports and process sales commission monthly
Accounts Payable
- Review invoices for appropriate documentation before payment.
- Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry, including obtaining invoice approval, coding, entering entries into the system, and issuing payments.
- Process, record, and issue payments (cheques and EFT) for vendor invoices
- Obtain and print signatures on all checks.
- Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation.
- Reconcile AP sub-ledger to the general ledger and inter-company account and record monthly accruals.
Month end:
- Prepare and post Month End Journal Entries.
- Routinely perform monthly account reconciliations, including banks, prepaid, capital assets, accrued liabilities, intercompany balances reconciliations, and HST claims.
- Assist with preparing monthly financials by providing schedules following the Financial Statements Close Process and timeline.
- Active participation in a month-end finance meeting
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- College degree or pursuing CPA designation with a minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience in month-end closing practice.
- You have demonstrated analytical abilities, quality-driven and detail-oriented.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- We have a proven track record of collaborating with individuals within the team and other departments and building collaborative working relationships.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Experience with Great Plains (GP), Management Reports, Xero and Sales Force would be an asset.
- Experience in Media Industry is an asset.
