The Town of The Blue Mountains is a growing and progressive, four-season community with stunning natural features, including the Niagara Escarpment, Beaver Valley and the Georgian Bay shoreline, and the various recreational activities and experiences they afford. We are seeking to fill the full-time, summer student position of Solid Waste Disposal Summer Student within our Operations Department.

Help the Town eliminate waste with leading service.
To effectively and efficiently assist with operational and maintenance duties for the Solid Waste Disposal Site.
To assist with general maintenance and care of the Disposal Site’s operations which includes composting, depot recycling, electronic and hazardous waste and landfilling of municipal solid waste.
To assist the Site patrons and public with way finding on the Site and respectfully conveying the Site waste sorting rules. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
High School Graduate
Minimum one year work experience in a team environment
Currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution in a related field
Aptitude in machinery and vehicle operation and maintenance
Ability to foster good working and interpersonal communications
Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects up to 50 pounds without assistance
Required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
Required to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
Required to move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred Information for Interested Candidates:

Salary Range: $15.75/hours to $19.14/hour (2022 Rate).
