Lithium Americas (LAC) is a publicly listed company (TSX and NYSE: LAC) headquartered in Vancouver and focusing on development of two large lithium projects in Argentina and United States. Caucahri-Olaroz project construction is nearing completion and Thacker Pass project is expected to start construction in 2022. Each of these projects will produce battery-grade lithium to power approximately one million electric cars per year for the next 40 years.
Role Overview
A full-time position based in our corporate Vancouver Downtown office for a CPA professional experienced in resource industry public companies reporting. This newly created position will report to VP Finance and will assist in various projects that relate to financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, ERP implementation and SOX internal controls. This position is ideal for a manager-level professional at a Big Four accounting firm looking for an exciting industry entry opportunity. You will be working collaboratively across our Canadian, Argentine and US-based teams supporting the financial reporting function and advancement of our projects.
Responsibilities
Assist with preparing consolidated quarterly and year-end financial statements
Support the overseeing of financial reporting and accounting of subsidiaries and associates
Prepare accounting memos for significant accounting transactions
Work with internal and external auditors
Assist with special projects (conversion of financial statements from IFRS to US GAAP, other)
Budgeting and forecasting
Preparing management reports and presentations
Support SOX compliance and audit
Assist with ERP implementation
Review of tax returns and provisions
Qualifications
A bachelor s degree, CPA accounting designation or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience
Experience with US GAAP and SOX considered an asset
Attention to detail and strong research and analytical skills
Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
Comfort with ambiguity and change and a sense of humour
Ability to work well both independently and in a team
