Responsibilities
Reporting to the Department Manager of Critical Care, the Education Administrative Assistant is the principal contact and primary resource for all QEII ICU rotating residents and medical students and is responsible for all coordination and administrative functions that relate to their experience while in the ICU. The educational coordinating process includes, but is not limited to: all elective maintenance, resident assessment, complex annual and monthly scheduling, and authorization and verification of leaves of absence/vacation days. The QEII ICUs host approximately 170 residents & medical students annually. The Education Administrative Assistant functions within the university hospital environment and is responsible for operating within the medical school policies and the Maritime Resident Doctors Collective Agreement.
Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized Office Administration or Business Program
Minimum two years administrative experience required
Medical Terminology an asset
Familiarity with medical education environment at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is considered an asset
Recent administrative experience in an academic or healthcare setting is an asset
Previous experience creating and maintaining complex high-pressure schedules considered an asset
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use a high degree of judgement/attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to problem-solve effectively and independently, accessing resources and assistance as required
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
Ability to take initiative, employ creativity and leadership
Ability to learn and work quickly; adaptable to change
Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision

Permanent full-time position; 70 hours biweekly
Salary Information
$21.73 – $24.31 hourly
