Saxxunderwear Looking for Senior Accountant at Vancouver, BC Full Time

THE SENIOR ACCOUNTANT WILL….

help to improve and optimize accounting and reporting processes. This role will play an important part in the timely preparation of month-end financial statements, assist in technical accounting matters, as well as being heavily involved in mapping out new processes as we move towards a system implementation. You will liaise with business partners outside of Finance to ensure timely and accurate departmental reporting, as well as participate in special projects. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, strong analytical skills and progressive accounting experience are a must for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• As part of the month end team, prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Reconcile GL accounts, posting journal entries and adjustments
• Complete working papers and ad hoc analysis, including necessary journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial statements
• Assist in reviewing working papers and approving journal entries as needed
• Prepare working papers for audits including financial statement note disclosures, and liaise with external auditors
• Perform variance analysis on actual to budget/forecasts and liaise with FP&A and departments as required
• Work with the Director, Financial Operations to build out the landed cost inventory valuation process including reviewing of landed cost estimates, and actual variances to forecast
• Assist in building out and improving internal control processes including documentation and providing guidance/discussion with other departments
• Participate in system implementation discussions, building out new processes and user acceptance testing (UAT) as required
• Assist in managing cash flow
• Provide mentorship to other more junior staff
• Perform ad hoc projects under the direction of the Director, Finance Operations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CPA designation completed with 2+ years in a progressive accounting role post designation, audit experience preferred
• Strong working knowledge of financial statement preparation
• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
• Strong computer skills; be a ‘power-user’ with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Possess a thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure
• Prior experience working with retail or eCommerce companies (either through audit or industry experience) a definite plus
• Prior experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems a definite plus
